Wired for Sound – Mozambique

Wired for Sound is a solar powered, mobile recording studio traveling through Southern Africa in partnership with community radio. The project was created by founding member of SA band Freshlyground, Simon Attwell and SAfm radio producer, Kim Winter with Freshlyground guitarist Julio Sigauque as lead musical advisor.

The 17 track album is the result of field recordings with 25 artists from 5 different provinces in North Mozambique. To help produce the first album, some of Southern Africa’s most well regarded musicians came on board – including Zolani Mahola from Freshlyground, blues guitarist Albert Frost, classical guitarist Derek Gripper and Mozambican drummer Texito Langa.

All revenue generated from sales of the album will go towards establishing professional, solar powered recording set ups in each partner community radio station in Mozambique.
